2nd Annual Co-Occurring Disorders Conference
The Alcoholism & Substance Abuse Providers of NYS, the NYS Conference of Local Mental Hygiene Directors, the NYS Council for Community Behavioral Healthcare, and The Coalition for Behavioral Health Agencies, Inc. will sponsor the "Partners for Recovery" conference May 14-16, 2008 at the Holiday Inn Albany-Wolf Road, Albany, NY.

Improving the Mental Health and Well-Being of Children, Youth and Families in New York State
NYS Office of Mental Health Commissioner Michael Hogan has invited the public to take part in the 2008 Public Forums and Dialogues for the Statewide Comprehensive Plan for Mental Health Services. In coordination with the Mental Health Services Council, the NYS Conference of Local Mental Hygiene Directors, and Field Office staff from the Office of Mental Health, this year's forums will focus on the needs of children, youth, and their families.

NYS Assembly Legislative Disabilities Awareness Day
Speaker Sheldon Silver, Assemblymember Michele Titus, Chair of the Task Force on People with Disabilities, and Assemblymember Peter Rivera, Chair of the Committee on Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities, are pleased to be sponsoring the NYS Assembly's Legislative Disabilities Awareness Day Monday, May 12, 2008 from 8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Disabilities Awareness Day provides an opportunity to educate legislators and their staffs on important issues while also striving to highlight the accomplishments of advocates and persons with disabilities. In addition, an effort is made to inform everyone present of the latest services, programs and technology available.
The event will feature an exhibitor fair and several seminars on issues of interest to people with disabilities throughout the day. In addition, a package of legislation crafted with significant input from disability advocates will be on the floor of the Assembly.
